The Pre-Hispanic City of Tajín, inscribed on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) since 1992, is the tenth of the 35 cultural, natural, and mixed sites admitted for Mexico by 2025. Due to its outstanding universal values ​​(criteria iii and iv), Tajín is recognized as a testament to one of the most important civilizations of the Gulf Coast during the Epiclassic period (600-900 CE). Through its unique urban layout, its more than 300 structures (ball courts, public buildings, temples, residences, etc.), and its numerous artistic and symbolic expressions, it embodies the most significant aspects of its society. 

It is embraced by the present-day Totonac people, who find in it historical and identity-related significance, and by the Mexican population as a remarkable example of the pre-Hispanic past. Recognized by the international community as an admirable work of humanity, Tajín is an extraordinary example of archaeological and cultural heritage that holds value for diverse communities, and whose preservation is essential for the present population and for the knowledge and enjoyment of future generations.  

In particular, Building I reflects the architectural and artistic skill of the people of Tajín, who captured their worldview in their fascinating murals and reliefs at a specific moment in Mesoamerican history.
